What do we mean, Modern Tavern

Well, we feel this term best sums up what we are trying to achieve here at Taps and Tapas.

Since summer 2014, we have been quietly turning into the place for local craft beer and wine on tap. We have become a true Free House, pouring guest beers from all over the province and beyond.

Head chef Greg Normstrong has added an understated sophistication to a very accessible menu. The menu reflects a strong desire to provide familiar, comforting dishes with an emphasis on quality ingredients meant to share.

All of our meat, fish & poultry are either sourced locally, ocean friendly, naturally raised or free run.

We are of the belief that beer can be at least as versatile as wine when it comes to food pairing. We pour multiple taps, plus a rotating cask selection from our beer engines. Each usually representing a local brewery, often available exclusively at the Taps and Tapas. Occasionally we are approached by some U.S. micro breweries with “one off” kegs. We have put together one of the most diverse selections in the province & encourage you to come try the best beer Ontario has to offer.

However, we are not total beer snobs. Our wine list features local boutique & organically grown wines, and yes, they’re poured from taps.

All of these elements combined make for a unique and inspiring experience. Taps and Tapas has established itself as a place for neighbours and community to share in great food, fantastic beer and culture.
